FedEx expands International Connect Plus service to new regions

FedEx has announced a strategic expansion of its FedEx International Connect Plus (FICP) service to include new destinations across the United States and Europe. Initially tailored for e-tailers in the Asia Pacific region, the service will now be accessible to e-commerce businesses in China, Hong Kong SAR, and Japan, with aspirations to extend reach to additional markets later this year.

This expansion aims to bolster cross-border e-commerce growth from Asia to the U.S. and Europe. The e-commerce market in Asia is projected to surge to an impressive USD $13,209 billion by 2030, exhibiting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 17.6% from 2023. Notably, China and Japan are at the forefront, showcasing substantial cross-border e-commerce activities.

FICP is designed to offer Asian merchants a robust international shipping solution that balances competitive pricing with expedited delivery, ensuring that most packages reach the U.S. and Europe within two to three business days. Salil Chari, Senior Vice President of Marketing & Customer Experience for Asia Pacific at FedEx, highlighted the service’s popularity among e-commerce clients for its blend of fast delivery and cost efficiency.

Among the service’s numerous advantages are cost savings, flexible delivery options, and seamless integration into existing operations. Merchants can automate shipping processes, ensuring a paperless experience, while consumers benefit from comprehensive parcel tracking. FedEx has also introduced initiatives like cross-border e-commerce handbooks for merchants in China and Japan and Picture Proof of Delivery, further enhancing customer interaction.

FedEx’s commitment to reliability is underscored by its expertise in customs clearance, real-time tracking capabilities, and flexible delivery options via the FedEx Delivery Manager International tool. As businesses look to capitalize on the growing demand for cross-border e-commerce, FedEx’s expanded FICP service represents a significant step forward in facilitating international trade and supporting merchants in navigating the complexities of global logistics.
