by Valery Nilsson

Crunchyroll is poised to reveal a refreshed brand identity at the upcoming San Diego Comic Con (SDCC), an event known for celebrating anime and pop culture. This transformation aims to tap into the growing interest in anime while reaffirming the energy and passion that permeate its dedicated fanbase.

The revamp will introduce a modernized logo and a new font named Crunchyroll Atyp, designed for improved readability. A vibrant color palette featuring orange, black, white, and taupe will also be part of the new identity. Notably, the brand will showcase a glyph system that features over 139 anime and manga-inspired characters, enriching the overall visual experience.

Gita Rebbapragada, Crunchyroll’s Chief Operating Officer, emphasized the meticulous thought behind the brand’s elements. “The vibrancy of our new Crunchyroll orange or the audio mark inspired by anime’s unique sounds embodies our team’s passion,” she stated. This commitment to authenticity is further reflected in the collaboration with Japanese artists on new textures and patterns.

Rahul Purini, President of Crunchyroll, underscored the brand’s evolution as a strategic move to reach a broader audience. With nearly one billion potential anime fans, he noted, “This evolution will encourage and welcome many anime enthusiasts to deepen their love for years to come.”

The debut of this new identity will coincide with the Crunchyroll Concert Series at the Rady Shell venue, featuring performances by J-Pop artist LiSA and hyperpop musician Alice Longyu Gao. The series will not only entertain but also integrate the updated brand, making it a significant experience for attendees.

For anime enthusiasts and industry stakeholders alike, Crunchyroll’s refreshed brand identity is a remarkable development. It aligns with the growing popularity of anime and positions the platform to serve an ever-diverse audience, solidifying its status as a leading name in the anime community.
