Food Lion Set for Simultaneous Ribbon Cutting at 167 Updated Stores

Food Lion is making a significant impact in the Raleigh-Durham-Cary area by celebrating the grand reopening of 167 updated stores. This move follows a substantial $365 million investment aimed at enhancing the shopping experience for customers in one of the fastest-growing regions in the United States.

Scheduled for August 21 at 7:45 a.m., the simultaneous ribbon-cutting ceremonies are not just a formality; they underline Food Lion’s commitment to quality and convenience. Customers can anticipate an expanded range of meal solutions, including more ready-to-eat and organic products, alongside a larger selection of gluten-free and plant-based options. This variety is further enriched by locally sourced produce and meats, catering to health-conscious consumers seeking fresh and sustainable choices.

Modernization efforts have also transformed store layouts, introducing self-checkout lanes and dedicated pickup spots for Food Lion To Go services. Energy-efficient LED lighting and refrigerated cases with doors reflect the company’s commitment to sustainability—a priority in today’s retail market.

President Meg Ham emphasized Food Lion’s long-standing dedication to the Raleigh-Durham community, promising customers a convenient omnichannel shopping experience. To celebrate the grand reopening, there will be giveaways, including a grand prize of $1,000 in Food Lion gift cards, and contributions to local food banks through Food Lion Feeds.

With 163 remodeled stores in North Carolina and four in Virginia, Food Lion remains dedicated to serving the needs of local families while reinforcing its position as a leading grocery retailer in the Southeast.
