ShopRite Builds Bigger and Better Supermarket in Upstate New York

by Valery Nilsson

On November 10, ShopRite launched its latest state-of-the-art supermarket at 333 North Bedford Road in Mount Kisco, New York. This impressive 74,000-square-foot facility boasts expanded services, smart shopping carts, chef-prepared meals, and an extensive selection of fresh foods and departments, setting a new standard in grocery shopping.

This new location replaces the nearby ShopRite of Bedford Hills, which closed on November 9. Steve Savas, president of ShopRite Supermarkets Inc., emphasized the enhanced shopping experience awaiting customers. “Our customers will find a bigger store with new amenities that also deliver the exceptional quality, variety, and value ShopRite is known for,” he stated. The supermarket’s design incorporates an array of innovative features tailored to meet the contemporary shopper’s demands while serving the community’s needs.

One of the standout elements of the new ShopRite is the Fresh to Table section. This one-stop meal destination offers a diverse range of fresh and trendy foods aimed at customers looking for quick meal solutions. The section includes a selection of chef-prepared entrees, ready-to-bake dishes, freshly made sushi, pre-cut fruits and vegetables, as well as desserts and cakes crafted by award-winning decorators. This initiative reflects a growing consumer preference for convenience and quality in grocery shopping.

In addition to the Fresh to Table offerings, the store features an enlarged produce department filled with local and organic options, a meat department staffed with skilled butchers ready to custom-cut items, and a seafood department that promises daily fresh-catch deliveries. The bakery section operates from scratch and also includes a floral department. ShopRite’s commitment to quality is not merely about groceries; it extends to exclusive offerings, such as specialty products from Bell & Evans and Stonewall Kitchen, alongside its own award-winning private brands, including Bowl & Basket, Wholesome Pantry, and Paperbird.

Digital innovation is fully integrated into the shopping experience as well. Customers can use Caper Carts—smart shopping carts powered by Instacart technology—to scan items as they shop, a feature designed to make the purchasing process smoother and more efficient. Furthermore, the store offers Order.Pickup.Deliver. services via ShopRite’s app or website, giving customers the flexibility of curbside pickup or home delivery. Such conveniences are essential in today’s fast-paced society, where many customers are increasingly shifting towards online shopping.

Prioritizing sustainability, the new supermarket is designed with energy efficiency in mind. It features advanced refrigeration and lighting systems, which help to minimize its environmental footprint. With glass doors on all dairy and freezer cases, along with LED lighting throughout the store and parking lot, the facility is built not just for today’s shopping needs but also for future environmental considerations.

The opening of this new ShopRite will generate approximately 200 job opportunities for the local community. Interested individuals can apply in-store or online, tapping into the growing local economy as it adapts to new retail landscapes.

ShopRite is a standout player in the grocery sector, operating nearly 280 stores across New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware, and Maryland. As a registered trademark of Wakefern, the largest supermarket cooperative in the United States, ShopRite is designed to meet the needs of millions of customers each week. Its commitment to quality, variety, and innovation continues to shape the grocery shopping experience while addressing evolving consumer preferences.

This recent opening illustrates not only the strategic growth of ShopRite but also a conscious shift towards integrating technology and sustainability within the retail experience. By redefining grocery shopping in Upstate New York, ShopRite sets a commendable example for future supermarket developments.

ShopRite’s focus on community engagement, quality fresh produce, innovative shopping solutions, and sustainable practices highlights a new era in grocery retailing, making it a significant player in the e-commerce and supermarket space.
