T&T Supermarkets to Open 1st California Store

T&T Supermarket Inc., a prominent Canadian Asian grocery chain, has announced plans to open its first California store at Westgate Center in San Jose in the fall of 2025. This move marks a significant step in T&T’s expansion into the U.S. market, adding to two existing locations in Washington state. The San Jose store, occupying a spacious 55,000 square feet in a former Walmart site, is strategically located at the intersection of Saratoga Avenue and Prospect Road.

Renowned for its diverse selection of authentic Asian products, T&T operates over 33 locations across Canada, offering fresh produce, a full-service meat counter, live seafood, and a celebrated prepared food program. Bay Area shoppers can look forward to exciting features at the new store, including a barbecue counter, noodle station, dim sum and street food section, and a made-to-order Chinese crepe station. Additionally, an in-store bakery will serve freshly prepared delicacies like mochi puffs and Hong Kong-style pastries.

One key highlight is the introduction of T&T’s signature private label products in California, which include pineapple cakes, Taiwanese sausages, and soup pork dumplings, all at competitive prices. Tina Lee, T&T CEO, emphasizes the vision of creating a destination that goes beyond traditional grocery shopping, aiming to foster community and discovery through food.

The San Jose location is not just about food; it is expected to generate nearly 200 local jobs, boosting the economy while contributing to the cultural vibrancy of the community. As noted by Jeff Kreshek, Western region president of Federal Realty, which is leading the project, the unique offerings of T&T Supermarket promise to elevate the shopping experience for local residents. With this expansion, T&T Supermarket is set to become a new culinary hub in the Bay Area, connecting shoppers with the rich flavors of Asia.
