Giant Co. Elevates Rebecca Lupfer to SVP, Chief Merchant

The Giant Co. takes a significant step in its leadership strategy by appointing Rebecca Lupfer as the Senior Vice President and Chief Merchant. With nearly two decades of experience in the grocery retail sector, Lupfer’s extensive background positions her well to oversee merchandising, commercial planning, and pricing strategies.

Lupfer’s career began in 2005 at Ahold Financial Services as a business analyst, progressing through various roles that enhanced her expertise in the grocery business. She joined Ahold USA in 2016 as the portfolio lead for seasonal merchandising and quickly climbed the ranks, previously serving as Vice President of merchandising for the center store and the Mid-Atlantic division, as well as Chief Financial Officer of Giant Co.

John Ruane, President of Giant Co., expressed confidence in Lupfer’s ability to strengthen the company’s position in the market. “Rebecca brings tremendous expertise and passion for building strong teams that deliver results,” he stated.

Lupfer also contributes to her community through positions on several boards, including the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry. Her leadership and commitment to excellence have earned her accolades, including being a two-time winner of Progressive Grocer’s Top Women In Grocery award.

The Giant Co., based in Carlisle, Pa., operates over 190 stores and employs more than 35,000 associates, providing a robust grocery delivery service across multiple states. It falls under Ahold Delhaize USA, ranked No. 11 in Progressive Grocer’s 2024 list of top food retailers in North America.

As Rebecca Lupfer steps into this pivotal role, her experience and commitment promise to enhance the customer experience and solidify The Giant Company as a preferred grocery destination.
